  • Margot Esther Borden published a new book on Psychology in the Light of the East which presents fresh insights into integral psychology, incorporating the reason of Western psychology together with the holistic outlook of Eastern wisdom. Borden examines the philosophy, mysticism, and psychology of both East and West to convey how they reflect the evolution of consciousness. Grounded in a theoretical framework, this text includes valuable techniques for application and invites readers on a journey of self-knowledge and self-mastery, providing practitioners as well as general readers with the tools for great personal and professional development.

  • Laszlo Zsolnai and Bernadette Flanagan (All Hallows College, Dublin City University) develop the International Handbook of Spirituality and  Society for Routledge. The Handbookaims to summarize the most important issues and problems  of spiritually-related activities in different fields of social life. Also, it presents approaches and models for  professions working in these domains. 

       
       
  • Vincenzo Giorgino (University of Turin) organizes a special session on “Contemplative methods meets sociological imagination. An enactive perspective for sociological inquiry and wise social transformation" in the RC33 9th International Conference on Social Science Methodology of the International Sociological Association (ISA) in 11-16 September 2016 at the University of Leicester in Leicester, UK.   • It was a shock to hear that Frank Delmartino, Jean Monnet professor of European Institutions and policies at KU Leuven and fellow of the European SPES Institute,  suddenly passed away on June 21, 2015. Frank was a dedicated European who inspired many students and who helped to "co-create Europe" through a lot of international projects and initiatives. He taught at many universities all over the world.  Recently he started a promising Cambridge-Leuven project on ‘Ethical Governance in Europe’ in which some SPES fellows were involved.

     

  • Participants of the 10th Anniversary Conference of the European SPES Forum in April 10-12, 2014 in Ieper, Flanders Fields, Belgium launched "The Ypres Manifesto on Business for Peace". It reads as follows: In commemoration of the Great War of 1914-1918, we gather together in Ypres, April 10 to 12, 2014, as an international group yearning for Peace and coming from more than ten different countries. In the war trenches of Ypres, thousands of young people lost their lives, their innocence and dreams.
